Mike Ferguson - Guest Drummer for Pentecost

Looking forward to a Gospel-style Pentecost service (June 9th) at St Matthias and St Luke. Joining Music Director Kevin Zakresky is percussionist Mike Ferguson.

Mike Ferguson has been playing music for most of his life. A second-generation drummer, he was immersed in rhythm from an early age.

As a performer, Mike’s mainstay project for the last seven years has been Vancouver-based event band The Suits (thesuits.ca), of which he is a founding member. Other performance credits include Chantal Kreviazuk, Alan Matheson, and the Boom Booms, to name a few.

Mike has always loved all styles of music and prides himself on his versatility. Exhibiting considerable breadth of expertise, he is equally comfortable playing loud rock, traditional jazz, Broadway shows, and orchestral music.

Whether Mike is playing or teaching, the goal is always to reach people and make a difference. He believes that the connections we form through music are very special.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Capilano University and a Diploma in Music from Vancouver Community College.

More recently, Mike has studied in New York with iconic musicians John Riley, Kenny Washington, Adam Nussbaum, and Carter McLean.
